Hairdreser washing hair

Every month or so, we spend our precious time and hard earned money on some type of therapy to make ourselves feel good. Some of us see pricey psychiatrists’ others choose therapeutic massage, or trendy exercise classes.  If you are like me, however, you may want to take the scenic route. It’s cheaper and the sights and smells are much prettier. My form of therapy includes bi-monthly spa mani/pedi’s, oxygen facials, and anything I can do or buy to make to make my head and the hair that’s covering it look, feel, and smell fabulous.

Hairepy is a form of therapy that I have found to be less expensive, less time consuming, and much more gratifying than sweating my way through an hour and a half bikram yoga class that I drove an hour in traffic to get to. Before I discovered hairepy, I, like most of us have done at one time or another drowned my sorrows in a pint of haagen daas ice cream a couple times a week. And this seemed to be the instant gratification and quick fix therapy that I needed, until my butt got too big for my $200 designer jeans. So I found something new and exciting to sink my teeth into while also keeping my slim figure and my blood sugar in check.

My therapists’ office’s are on Main St., Ventura Blvd., 5th Avenue, and in malls and shopping plazas across the country.  I visit these bountiful beauty supply stores or salons for my hairepy sessions as needed, or until my wallet is empty and my heart is whole again! And don’t feel guilty if you can’t remain completely loyal to your normal hairepists’ office, aka your local beauty store or salon.  Variety is the spice of life and beauty products and treatments are sugar for the soul.  Or in my case, my soul prefers vodka.

My favorite form of hairepy is found at most salons across the country.  It’s an old traditional type of treatment called cut and style. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. There is nothing like a good cut and style once in a while to make you feel whole again.  Its soothing, relaxing, transforming, and just feels so good! The style won’t last but a few days, but the cut will stay pretty for at least 6 weeks. Another option is a deep conditioning or aromatherapy scalp treatment. These usually come with a head massage also. For me, these treatments are the best form of hairepy that money can buy!

Now, if you can’t pry the remote control out of your hands or are just having a bad hair day, you don’t even need to leave the comforts of your home to get some much needed hairepy.  The internet is one great big, fabulous shopping mall. Every beauty product you can ever imagine or desire is right at your fingertips. The internet is an exotic buffet of deep conditioners, luxurious shampoos, and awesome styling tools. And, in 3-4 business days, I am a new person.

However, this seemingly marvelous form of therapy does have its downs. Like most other types of therapy, it has to be practiced periodically. Just like the instructions on your vanilla infused protein and multi-vitamin enhanced shampoo bottle, every couple of days you have to rinse, lather, and repeat or your gorgeous smile will be as limp as your hair.
