One of the biggest compliants clients have is how difficult it is to replicate a salon-worthy blowout at home. But the reality is, it isn’t has hard as it seems. Sure, stylists do it professionally, but with the right knowledge and some practice, anybody can perfect a salon-worthy blowout at home. Steps:
1. The first step toward a great blowout is the proper direction of blow dryer airflow. This means that in order to get the super sleek look (with no fly-ways), the air flow from the blow dryer needs to be directed “down” the hair shaft from the roots to the ends.
2. Once you’ve mastered the flow of air, it’s time to learn how to skillfully utilize a brush and hair dryer at the same time. This may take some practice since you need to work the brush in one hand and hold the blow dryer with the other while still concentrating on directing the airflow down. When blow-drying your hair, many stylists suggest the “divide and conquer method.” By dividing hair into several manageable sections that about 2-4inchs in thickness, the rest of the hair can be clipped out of the way, so there is less hair to worry about for the moment. You should be the judge on how many sections to create since you know your hair type best.
3. Depending on your hair type and what kind of blowout you’re aiming for, choose products accordingly. For stick straight blow outs, use straightening products, such as straightening gels or sprays. Enhance curls with products designed to give body and definition. For volume, opt for thickening and volumizing products. But no matter what products you use, always remember to use a heat protectant product to protect against the heat of the hair dryer. It’s also wise to invest in a good brush to make your life easier during the process.
4. Finally, make sure to alternate hot with cold. Heat from the blow dryer opens the cuticle and allows a style to be formed. Finishing a section of already done hair with a blast of cool hair (most blow dryers have the cool hair button) will help close the newly created texture or lock in the straightness of the section. If you're looking for a salon quality hair dryer, we recommend a Bio Ionic hair dryer . Now that you know how to achieve the best blow out in the comfort of your own home, it’s time to take action!
