Bangs can be fun and sexy and are a great way for enhancing and framing your face shape.  Whether you have jagged, wispy, or straight bangs, here are some easy steps to maintain trim those strands in the comfort of your own home.

First you want to make sure you have the proper equipment to work with.
  • Sharp pair of shears.  Having a pair of sharp, high quality hair scissors is a must because scissors used for cutting paper or anything else will be too dull for your hair
  • Styling comb
  • Clips to hold excess hair
  • A hands-free mirror
Ok, so now you have the right tools here are the steps to cutting your own bangs:
  1. First you want to start with your hair dry.  If your hair is dry because if your hair is wet it will shrink and look to short after you cut it.
  2. Section off the hair you do not want to cut.  You can hold it back with clips or put it in a ponytail.
  3. Use a styling comb to divide your bangs in half.
  4. Make sure you are not holding any unnecessary pieces because you do not want to make any accidental cuts.
  5. Hold bangs with a slight distance from your face using your index and middle fingers to pinch them.
  6. Trim bangs upward at a 45 degree angle.  You don’t want to cut bangs straight across your forehead because you won’t be able to cut in a perfectly straight line.
Master these simple steps and avoid those extra trips to the salon for that frequent trim.
