For those of you who color your hair , you’ll know that it's not cheap. It’s also something you’ll need to redo every six to eight weeks so naturally, you’ll want to protect your beauty investment. Here are a few tips that will help your hair color stay saturated and rich for longer, saving you money in the long run. 1. Keep Your Hair Out of The SunWear a hat when you know your hair is going to be exposed to the sun. If hats aren’t your thing, there are several spray products for your hair that contain SPF.2. Keep Chlorine Away from Your HairIf you’re going in for that summer dip, make sure you tie your hair up and refrain from submerging your hair. Chlorine is a bleach and will ruin your color if you come into contact with it. If you absolutely have to get those locks wet, apply a deep conditioner to your hair before you submerge. After your swim, rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and club soda. This will get most of the chlorine out of your hair before it gets a chance to damage your color.3. Wash Your Hair In Cold WaterUse the coldest water that you can tolerate when washing your hair. Just as hot water is more effective for removing stains from clothing, it will also strip your hair of its color over time.4. Stay Away From Dandruff ShampoosThe chemicals in dandruff shampoo are known to be too harsh for your hair color. As a general rule, look for salt-free shampoos and conditioners or invest in types that are specifically designed to protect hair color. Hair by: Dana Lyseng (NAHA Finalist)
