As people age, one of the issues some will have to face is thinning hair. Thinning hair is a genetic issue that may be difficult for some people to deal with but there are a few things you can do to help. Here are some tips to give the appearance of a thicker and fuller head of hair.
- Keep Your Hair Short
When thin hair is short if will look more dense than if it was long. Having long hair that is thinning will look straggly and unhealthy. Consider short cuts that fit your facial shape well. It is better to keep it short and use products that thicken your hair to give it a more full appearance. - Color Your Hair
Adding highlights or lowlights to strategically placed areas will give the appearance of a better balance of contrast on your head. People will not focus on you bald areas but more on the style and accents of your hair. Adding color will also make the hair shafts look larger and will create the effect of having thicker hair. - Don’t Create Too Much Volume
You may think that teasing and hair spraying your hair is going to conceal your thinning hair but it is actually doing the opposite. It your hair is too high off your head it is actually leaving your scalp more open to be seen. Creating a minimal amount of volume is ok but just be sure that you are creating a natural and non-overcompensating look. - Add Curls
Having straight hair will only enhance the appearance of thinning. What you want to do is give your hair some texture, which can be done through curls. This will add movement, life and the appearance of volume to your hair. Thinning hair is genetic so there’s little you can do about it without Rogaine or cosmetic surgery. If these techniques don’t eliminate your hair woes, you can always just wear at hat!
