The 2008 MTV Music Video Awards took over the Paramount Studios in Hollywood on Sept. 7th for another night of music and debauchery. This year’s VMAs were hosted by a relatively unknown, but quite amusing British comedian, Russell Brand. The night belonged to Britney Spears who won 3 moon-men, including one for video of the year. Many were skeptical if Britney would show up in the same disoriented state she appeared in at the 2007 VMAs, but seemed to be pleasantly surprised with her calm and gracious demeanor. Now that the recap formalities are over with, let’s get to the important stuff…the celebrity hairstyles. The red carpet at the VMAs has always been the place where new celebrity hairstyles either come alive with new hair fashion trends or are pronounced dead on arrival. Here is a look at the best and worst celebrity hairstyles of the 2008 MTV Video. Since it is never good to end things on a sour note, we will start off with the worst celebrity hairstyles of the 2008 VMAs. These are the hairstyles that at first glance might just make you throw up in your mouth. Worst VMA HairstylesLet’s start off with Russell Brand. This Cure-esque hairstyle looks about 25 years out of style. It also looks like he took a page out of Amy Winehouse’s book with his semi beehive.![]() Bill Kaulitz, the lead singer of the band Tokio Hotel looks like a character from the popular cartoon Dragon Ball Z. ![]() Solange Knowles is channeling Jasmine Guy in A Different World with this eighties inspired hair do. ![]() Pete Wentz, bassist of the rock/pop band, Fall Out Boy is looking miserably emo with this stereotypical hairstyle. ![]() When taking a risk with a new and unique hairstyle, the results are going to be hit or miss as you grace the red carpet before the dreaded fashion police. Unfortunately for Keri Hilson she struck out with this hairstyle. ![]() Best VMA HairstylesTaylor Swift had one of the best put-together hairstyles of the night as she co-hosted the VMA pre-show, interviewing red carpet starlets. Her soft flowing curly blond locks give her a sweet, angelic appearance.
